Bottle, 75cl corked, courtesy of Bergstaden. A dark brown colored beer with small, dense beige head. The aroma is quite Belgian-fruity, yet with a dark twist of roasted malts, chocolate and coffee. Some dried fruits and a touch of yeast, in a pleasant way. It's full-bodied, soft and lightly warming, with a decent carbonation. Dark dried fruits, caramel, roasted malts, Belgian style fruityness, some coffee and a touch of yeast. Lasting finish. A very delicious Belgian style dark beer with an American twist. 180922

Bottle at a Christmas bottle swap with friends. Poured a really dark brown color, mostly still. Aroma was a blast of vanilla, brown sugar, toffee, caramel, with a lot of bourbon notes. Raisins, light yeast, with some dried dark cherries and dark brown sugar. Very smooth, booze is there, but it's really well masked here.

750 ml bottle into signature tulip glass, bottled on 8/11/2017. Pours lightly hazy/cloudy very dark brown color with a 1-2 finger fairly dense and fluffy khaki head with good retention, that reduces to a thin cap that lingers. Nice spotty soapy lacing clings around the glass, with a moderate amount of streaming carbonation retaining the cap. Aromas of big raisin, plum, fig, date, cherry, red grape, apricot, apple, berry, caramel, brown sugar, toffee, vanilla, bourbon, coconut, toasted oak, and dark/brown bread; with lighter notes of molasses, peppercorn, clove, chocolate, cocoa, coffee, roasted nuts, yeast/oak/toasted earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of dark/bready/light roasted malts, bourbon barrels, and fruity/spicy yeast notes; with great strength. Taste of huge raisin, plum, fig, date, cherry, red grape, apricot, apple, berry, caramel, brown sugar, toffee, vanilla, bourbon, coconut, toasted oak, and dark/brown bread; with lighter notes of molasses, peppercorn, clove, chocolate, cocoa, coffee, roasted nuts, and yeast/oak/toasted earthiness. Light herbal/roasted bitterness and yeast/bourbon/oak spiciness on the finish. Lingering notes of dark fruit, cherry, red grape, apricot, apple, berry, caramel, brown sugar, toffee, vanilla, bourbon, coconut, toasted oak, dark/brown bread, nuttiness, peppercorn, clove, light chocolate/coffee, and yeast/oak/toasted earthiness on the finish for a while. Incredible complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/bready/light roasted malts, bourbon barrels, and fruity/spicy yeast flavors; with an awesome malt/bitter/spiciness balance, and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Lightly increasing dryness from yeast/oak spiciness and carbonation. Medium-high carbonation and medium-full body; with a very smooth, creamy/silky/bready, and lightly sticky/chalky/tannic balanced mouthfeel that is awesome. Alcohol is very well hidden; a mildly increasing warmth, with minimal barrel booziness lingering after the finish. Overall this is amazing barrel aged Belgian strong dark ale! All around incredible complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/bready/light roasted malts, bourbon barrels, and fruity/spicy yeast flavors; very smooth and dangerously easy to sip on for the huge ABV. Very rich with insane levels of complexity, and perfectly balanced between all flavors. Perfect barrel integration; great bourbon/oak presence with minimal associated booze. A highly enjoyable offering, and exceptional style example.
