16 ounce can into tulip glass, best before 4/12/2017. Pours slightly hazy deep orange/light copper color with a 1-2 finger dense and rocky light khaki head with good retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lingers. Nice spotty soapy lacing clings around the glass, with a moderate amount of streaming carbonation retaining the cap. Aromas of caramel, brown sugar, coconut, vanilla, toffee, toasted oak, brown bread, light roast, herbal, light pepper, and oak/toasted earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of dark/bready malt, bourbon barrel, and light earthy hop notes; with good strength. Touch of barrel booze appears as it warms. Taste of big caramel, brown sugar, coconut, vanilla, toffee, toasted oak, brown bread, light roast, herbal, light pepper, and oak/toasted earthiness. Light-moderate herbal/pine bitterness and bourbon/oak spiciness on the finish; with lingering notes of caramel, brown sugar, coconut, vanilla, toffee, toasted oak, brown bread, light roast, and oak/toasted earthiness on the finish for a while. Great complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/bready malt, bourbon barrel, and light earthy hop flavors; with a great malt/bitter/spiciness balance; and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Light dryness from bitterness and bourbon/oak spiciness, lightly increasing through the glass. Light-medium carbonation and medium-full body; with a very smooth, creamy, and lightly slick/silky/sticky balanced mouthfeel that is great. Alcohol is well hidden, a small warmth lingering after the finish; with minimal barrel booziness. Overall this is a great barrel aged imperial amber ale. All around great complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/bready malt, bourbon barrel, and light earthy hop flavors; very smooth and easy to sip on for the ABV. A very enjoyable offering.
