12 ounce bottle into pint glass, bottled on 7/4/2016. Pours slightly hazy/cloudy deep reddish copper/orange color with a 1-2 finger dense light khaki head with good retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Nice spotty soapy lacing clings down the glass, with a moderate amount of streaming carbonation retaining the head. Aromas of caramel, brown sugar, brown bread, toasted biscuit, cinnamon, nutmeg, cardamom, ginger, clove, light roast, and herbal/toasted earthiness. Very nice aromas with good balance and complexity of dark/bready malt and spice notes; with good strength. Taste of big caramel, brown sugar, brown bread, toasted biscuit, cinnamon, nutmeg, cardamom, ginger, clove, light roast, and herbal/toasted earthiness. Light herbal/roast bitterness and spiciness on the finish; with lingering notes of caramel, brown sugar, brown bread, toasted biscuit, cinnamon, nutmeg, cardamom, ginger, clove, light roast, and herbal/toasted earthiness on the finish for a while. Damn nice complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/bready malt and spice flavors; with a great malt/bitter/spiciness balance, and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Light dryness from bitter/spiciness, lightly increasing through the glass. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth, moderately creamy/bready, and lightly sticky balanced mouthfeel that is great. Zero warming alcohol as expected of 5.5%. Overall this is a very nice spiced American amber ale. All around nice complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/bready malt and spice flavors; very smooth and easy to drink. A spot on amber ale to style, with balanced spice flavors. A very enjoyable offering.
