22 ounce bottle into tulip glass, bottled in 8/2016. Pours clear very dark brown color with a 1-2 finger dense light khaki head with goof retention, that reduces to a thin cap that lingers. Light spotty soapy lacing clings around the glass. Aromas of big caramel, toasted dark bread, spicy rye, cinnamon, nutmeg, clove, light chocolate/cocoa, and herbal/toasted earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of dark/bready rye malt, light roast/cocoa, and moderate spice notes; with great strength. Taste of big caramel, toasted dark bread, spicy rye, cinnamon, nutmeg, clove, light chocolate/cocoa, and herbal/toasted earthiness. Light herbal/roast bitterness and rye spiciness on the finish; with lingering notes of caramel, toasted dark bread, spicy rye, cinnamon, nutmeg, clove, light chocolate/cocoa, and herbal/toasted earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Damn nice complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/bready rye malt, light roast/cocoa, and moderate spice flavors; with a great malt/spiciness balance, with zero cloying sweetness after the finish. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth, creamy, and lightly sticky/chalky balanced mouthfeel that is nice. Zero warming alcohol as expected of 5.8%. Overall this is a great spiced brown ale style. All around great complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/bready rye malt, light roast/cocoa, and moderate spice flavors; very smooth and easy to drink. Very impressive balance with the spice; good prominence but is used with good restraint. A very enjoyable offering.

On tap at Hideout. Deep brown body, medium tan clumping head with the look of floating oatmeal flakes. Spicy, fruity, light aroma. Smooth fruity body, sweet, cerealy with strong rye character. Took a few sips to detect the spices, but I picked up the nutmeg and cinnamon beneath the bready, fruity rye malt. Quaffable with appropriate spicing that does not overpower the interesting rye.
