12 ounce bottle into pint glass, bottled on 5/20/2014. Pours slightly hazy/cloudy golden straw color with a 2 finger dense and rocky white head with good retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lingers. Nice spotty soapy lacing clings around the glass. Aromas of lemon, peach, apricot, pear, apple, pepper, clove, light banana/bubblegum, wheat, cracker, bread, herbal, floral, and yeast earthiness. Very nice aromas with good balance and complexity of fruity/spicy yeast, moderate pale malt, and light earthy hop notes; with good strength. Taste of lemon, peach, apricot, pear, apple, pepper, clove, light banana/bubblegum, wheat, cracker, bread, herbal, floral, and yeast earthiness. Light herbal bitterness and yeast spiciness on the finish; with lingering notes of lemon, peach, apricot, pear, apple, pepper, clove, wheat, cracker, bread, herbal, floral, and yeast earthiness on the finish for a short bit. Very nice complexity, robustness, and balance of fruity/spicy yeast, moderate pale malt, and light earthy hop flavors; with a great malt/spiciness balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Light-moderate dryness as well. Medium carbonation and light-medium body; with a very smooth, fairly crisp, and lightly grainy/creamy mouthfeel that is nice. Zero warming alcohol as epected of 5%. Overall this is a very nice Abbey single/Belgian pale ale style. All around nice complexity, robustness, and balance of fruity/spicy yeast, moderate pale malt, and light earthy hop flavors; very smooth, crisp, clean, and refreshing to drink. A very enjoyable offering.
Just like Southampton last term, middling.
