This one sat around a while and tasted badly oxidized. +++ Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer poured a murky tan color with a medium sized soapy orange-white head that left decent lacing. The aroma was caramel and malt with fruity and piney hops that were a bit rough. The flavor was rough and bitter with pine, fruity hops, bread crust, caramel, must and a strong oxidized presence. Long finish. Moderately full bodied. Meh.

Pour is a murky looking red-orange with a large white head. Aroma is caramel malt sweetness with a minty hop in the backround. Flavor is way more malt that hops. Almost a strong English style malt like a maris otter with a very minor hop presence. This bottle I had is one day shy of it expiration date and I’m thinking this probably expired over a month ago. It’s not as sweet as I thought it would be but also not as hoppy as this turned into a malt bomb after the hops faded.

12 ounce bottle into tulip glass, bottled on 1/5/2016. Pours fairly hazy orange/copper color with a 1 finger dense off white head with good retention, that reduces to a thin cap that lingers. Light spotty soapy lacing clings around the glass. Aromas of big peach, pineapple, apricot, mango, melon, papaya, lemon zest, lime, orange peel, light pine, honey, caramel, toasted bread, herbal, and floral/grassy earthiness. Very nice aromas with good balance and complexity of juicy tropical/citrus hops and moderate dark/bready malt notes; with great strength. Taste of big peach, pineapple, apricot, mango, melon, papaya, lemon zest, lime, orange peel, light pine, honey, caramel, toasted bread, herbal, and floral/grassy earthiness. Moderate pine/citrus rind bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of peach, pineapple, apricot, mango, melon, papaya, lemon/orange rind, pine, caramel, toasted bread, and herbal/floral/grassy earthiness on the finish for a while. Very nice complexity, robustness, and balance of juicy tropical/citrus hops and moderate dark/bready malt flavors; with a great malt/bitterness balance and zero astringent hop flavors after the finish. Light-moderate dryness from bitterness that increases though the glass. Medium carbonation and medium-full body; with a very smooth, sticky/resinous, and fairly creamy/bready balanced mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is well hidden with only a light warmth lingering after the finish. Overall this is a very nice DIPA. All around good complexity, robustness, and balance of juicy tropical/citrus hops and moderate dark/bready malt flavors; and very smooth and easy to drink for the ABV. A very enjoyable offering.
