A deep reddish, and complex Belgian style ale. Six different types of malted barley, Belgian candied syrup and Belgian yeast are combined to produce a very smooth, complex and slight sweet ale.

Can. Clear, deep amber/ruby body. Fizzy white head, rapidly diminishing to nothing. No lacing. Aroma of sweet malts, candy sugar, caramel. The flavor is moderately to heavily sweet and lightly bitter. It finishes moderately sweet and lightly bitter. Thin to medium body, watery texture, moderate carbonation. I like a malty sweet beer, but this is more sugary sweet than anything else. Just a hint of dark fruits β plum, cherry, raisin. And no hint of earthy Belgian yeast. Its thin body doesnβt help.

16 ounce can into chalice, no can dating. Pours fairly crystal clear deep ruby red/copper color with a 1 finger fairly dense khaki head with good retention, that reduces to a spotty lace cap that lingers. Light spotty lacing clings on the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of raisin, plum, cherry, fig, apple, pepper, clove, light banana, caramel, brown sugar, toasted biscuit, nuttiness, light chocolate, and yeast/toasted earthiness. Nice and pleasant aromas with good balance and complexity of fruity/earthy yeast and dark/bready malt notes; with solid strength. Taste of big raisin, plum, cherry, fig, apple, pepper, clove, light banana, caramel, brown sugar, toasted biscuit, nuttiness, light chocolate, and yeast/toasted earthiness. Moderate amount of yeast spiciness and light herbal bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of raisin, plum, cherry, fig, apple, pepper, clove, light banana, caramel, brown sugar, toasted biscuit, nuttiness, and yeast/toasted earthiness on the finish for a while. Very nice complexity, robustness, and balance of fruity/earthy yeast and dark/bready malt flavors; with a great malt/spiciness balance and zero cloying sweetness after the finish. Light dryness from yeast spiciness as well. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth and moderately creamy/bready mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is very well hidden with only a light warmth present after the finish. Overall this is a very good dubbel style. All around good complexity, robustness, and balance of fruity/earthy yeast and dark/bready malt flavors; and very smooth and easy to drink. A very enjoyable offering.

Way too sweet, and very metallic. Pours out dark amber with small beige head. Aroma is iron and rust. Taste is more of the metal with some rock candy sweetness . Finish is blunt and more metal. Served ice cold from a can which may be part of the problem.

16 oz can. Pours a darker shade of amber, clear with an off-white head. Overripe red and dark fruit aroma with caramel. Toasty maltiness, some raisin and apple in the flavor. A pretty good one.
