32 ounce howler into globe glass, filled on 11/13/2015. Pours slightly hazy deep golden yellow color with a 1 finger dense white head with good retention, that reduces to a thin cap that lingers. Light spotty soapy lacing clings around the glass, with a moderate amount of streaming carbonation retaining the cap. Aromas of lemon, apricot, pear, apple, white grape, banana, pepper, clove, light bubblegum, spicy rye, toasted biscuit, herbal, floral, and yeast/toasted earthiness. Very nice aromas with good balance and complexity of fruity/spicy yeast and moderate bready/rye malt notes; with good strength. Taste of big lemon, apricot, pear, apple, white grape, banana, pepper, clove, light bubblegum, spicy rye, toasted biscuit, herbal, floral, and yeast/toasted earthiness. Moderate amount of peppery yeast spiciness and light herbal bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of lemon, pear, apple, white grape, banana, pepper, clove, spicy rye, toasted biscuit, and yeast/toasted earthiness on the finish for a while. Very nice complexity, robustness, and balance of fruity/spicy yeast and moderate bready/rye malt flavors; with a great malt/spiciness balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Light-moderate dryness from spiciness as well. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth, fairly crisp, and lightly creamy/bready/sticky mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is very well hidden with minimal warming present after the finish. Overall this is a damn nice rye saison style. All around great complexity, robustness, and balance of fruity/spicy yeast and moderate bready/rye malt flavors; and very smooth and crisp to drink. A very enjoyable offering.
