12oz bottle. Opaque brown-black body. Respectable beige head. Creamy vanilla chocolate aroma. Smooth, easy going chocolate malts. Drinks medium bodied, very sessionable. Creamy smooth milk chocolate. A well done American Porter.

Bottle at Winking Lizard. Dark brown pour with a medium tan head that diminishes steadily to a film. Small patches of lacing on the glass. Aroma of roasted malt, chocolate and coffee. Medium-bodied with a roasty coffee and malt character, with some sweet chocolate and a touch of hops in the background. The finish is dry and roasty with a malt and earthy hops aftertaste. Pretty good Porter all around.

12oz bottle pours with a nice dark body that supports a thin mocha colored head. The aroma offers up dark roasted malts, a bit of burnt malts as well as a dash of hazelnut and chocolate. The taste starts nice and roasty with dark roasted to burnt malts and then it sweetens a bit with malts and some mild nuttiness. Really nice and it picks up a light ashy quality into the finish.

Pours out a deep muddy brown with nice, thick fluffy head. Aroma mostly dark roasted grains, chocolate a touch of coffee come in the taste. Burnt toast finish. Decent but average porter.

12 oz bottle. Aroma is roasty, bready, cocoa, coffee, licorice. Pours black with a medium beige head with good retention. Taste is sweet, roasty, lightly bitter with earthy hop notes in the finish with a hint of tartness; coconut, vanilla--nice. Creamy mouthfeel, fine carbonation, medium body. This is the most fantastic new porter I’ve had in ages! It reminds me of the days when I was first getting into craft beer, and how Sierra Nevada Porter and Anchor Porter were blowing my mind and taste buds. This is as good as those beers, honest to Glob. What a nice surprise, NB.

This was poured into a pint glass.
A nice sticky one finger white to off white foamy and rocky looking head appeared settled super nicely in little hills. A nice looking foamy clingy lacing graces the sides of the glass.
The smell had a big sweet to roasty chocolate with a substantial amount of roasted coffee bean assisting in the balance.
The taste was a nice sweet moderately balanced roasty coffee/cocoa. It becomes slightly sticky in the aftertaste and lends a subtle sweet smooth yet dry finish.
On the palate, this one sat about a medium on the body with a fairly decent sessionability about it. I really like how sweet and roasty smooth it rolls across my tongue.
Overall, hey New Belgium, good job, I’d have this one again.

Bottle from Total Wine in Folsom, CA. Pours dark brown/black with a creamy dark tan head. Aroma is a little dark roasty malt and chocolate. Full bodied. Flavor is slightly bitter chocolate/coffee/roasty dark malt. It’s pretty dry, and finishing bitter. Sort of earthy chocolate bitter.

12 ounce bottle from Whole Foods Asheville. Pours a dark brown color with a large foamy tan head. Good head retention. Aroma of chocolate, roast, chestnuts, mild hops. The taste is roast, chocolate, mild coffee and hops. Medium bodied, good balance, mild lingering bitterness.
