Honey Wine with Cocoa and Spices Added - The ancient Mayans held both honey and chocolate as sacred. The Mayan word for honey, lab’, also meant "world" (we like the way these Mayans think). Used for culinary and ritualistic purposes, these two items were of the utmost importance to their culture and economy. Today, we’ve combined these ingredients with cinnamon, vanilla, and a bit of heat from light additions of ancho and guajillo chiles. Enjoy this modern take on an ancient beverage...just don’t lose your head.

Awesome! Lemon/orange/floral/herbal/vanilla/cinn/cocoa/light smoke/chili pepper. Semisweet/mild carb. Slight increasing pepper heat finish. --- Beer merged from original tick of Crafted Chocol'Ha on 27 Apr 2017 at 18:47 - Score: 8. Original review text:

Sampled on draft at Vintage Estate this mead poured a vibrant dark golden color with no head and no lacing. The aroma was sweet and tangy with honey, grape, cocoa and cinnamon. The flavor was rich and very sweet with strong honey, graham cracker, cinnamon and chocolate. Long finish with lingering cinnamon. Full bodied. Excellent.
