Hemel & Aarde is brewed with the most heavily peated malts we could find. Not for the fainthearted. This powerful brew overwhelms you with smoke, chocolate and coffee. Flavour indication: smoke, chocolate, coffee Translates as Heaven & Earth

330ml bottle, thanks to Benzai. Never usually give such a high mark, but just took another sip and this really is a special beer. Pours black with thin beige head. Lovely soft smoky, woody aroma. Taste is thick and oily, with silky smooth chocolate and peated notes, subtle liquorice, smoke, bourbon barrel, vanilla, dark chocolate, burnt coffee dregs with bitter ash on the finish. An endlessly enjoyable beer.

---hemel y aarde from barrel bruichladdich 1972---. Botella de 18 cl numero 1032 de 1776. elaborada en 03-12-2009. embotellado en 07-06-2010. esta y otras dos o tres botellas. Tomada en paco,s en verano de 2011. Imperial stout alucinante.

750ml bottle [#28 of 150, bottled 2011/03/07, 9.5% abv]. Pitch black colour with late awakening, small, frothy to creamy, half-way lasting, minimally lacing, tan head. Intense, rich and complex dark malty aroma, notes of chocolate, treacle, liquorice, leather, peat, tar. Taste is dry to bitter hoppy, moderately sweet dark malty, notes of dark chocolate, treacle, salty liquorice, a touch of peat; full body, oily texture, soft & sticky palate. This is a De Molen classic, and I think this perfectly illustrates the core area of De Molen’s genuine strenght. Without knick-knack, neither barrel-aged, (un-)intentionally sour nor in any other way developed further. I believe that Imperial Stout is one out of the very few styles that actually can originate a 5.0-rating, and furthermore, I believe that De Molen is able to produce this by "standard brewing". Very good.
