Hemel & Aarde is brewed with the most heavily peated malts we could find. Not for the fainthearted. This powerful brew overwhelms you with smoke, chocolate and coffee. Flavour indication: smoke, chocolate, coffee Translates as Heaven & Earth

Bottle. Aroma solventy, alcohol, lots of chocolate, dried fruits. Temperky. Pitch black colour. Lots of solventy temperky in taste. Might be OK at another time, but something went wrong here either with the beer or with me.

bottle shared by Cuso at RB Vienna March Tasting. black color, very big coffee colored head. disappears after a while. smells smoky, malt backbone, some sweetness, kinda creamy smell. full body, very soft carbonation, slight smoky taste, quite well hidden, liqueurish, some malty sweetness, very creamy taste, very nice creamy taste, quite easily drinkable for the ABV. smokiness is quite subtle compared to the smell. quite like this.

May 2013 bottle. Big, big nose, chocolate, soy, smoke, sea water. Pitch black with a thick milshake head. Sweet chocolate flavor, cream, umami, some coffee, smoke, whisky, sea water. Seems to be peated, but no medicinal, bandaid aspect. Fabulous stuff.

Bottle (courtesy of Bierkoning - several years ago - this beer has done some traveling - Bottelnumber 1172, 9.5%). Earthy lapsang souchong, chocolate malt, and alcohol aroma. Dark brown with small tan head. Bittersweet peaty dark chocolate and coffee malt flavor. Light licorice aftertaste.

Huge peat here. Black pour without much head or lacing. Roast and chocolate. Not sure what this variety of tea is but there’s something a little odd here. Bitter finish. Tap at pizza paradiso.

Bottle. Very dark color with small grey head. Beautiful appearance. Smokey, roasted malts, chocolate, sweetness. Interesting complex taste of more chocolate and malts, but still a hint of freshness noticeable. Both complex and easily drinkable, the alcohol is hardly noticeable. Slick, smooth mouthfeel. Very tasty and very good. In the empty glass, there's smoke and ashes remaining.Edit: had it again from the hand pump. Damn, the near-flatness makes it quite different. But it's great!
