Hemel & Aarde is brewed with the most heavily peated malts we could find. Not for the fainthearted. This powerful brew overwhelms you with smoke, chocolate and coffee. Flavour indication: smoke, chocolate, coffee Translates as Heaven & Earth

Bottle. Hop Hideout, Sheffield. Not far off black. Ring of tan. Slow motion in the glass. First aroma on opening was smoked fish. Thankfully that faded somewhat, soon after. What’s left is a medicinal, liniment, sticking plaster vibe. Big, peaty smoke. Background tar, liquorice, and praline. Taste is smooth, vanilla sweetness. Lots of peaty, ashy bitterness. Smooth, lightly drying palate. Finishes light bitter. Smoky, vanilla sweet on the lips. Close gets tangy, burnt bitter. Complex gear. Never entirely loses the smoked fish thing, for me, though. Would be interested to try the BA variants of this.

Requiere repetir.

Bottle from Erz Winti. Pours black with a beautiful head, a gradient of all bubble sizes you can imagine. Intense malt aroma, pure sweet taste of... Well, ImpStout. Incredibly beautiful.

A dark brown ale with a thick frothy lacing brown head. In aroma, sweet burned caramel malt with loads of peated notes, grassy hops, licorice notes, molasses, alcohol warmth, interesting. In mouth, a sweet fruity caramel chocolate malt with loads of alcohol warmth, burned Caramel, peated notes, grassy hops, very nice. On tap at La Fine Mousse.

Bottle at home. Three years old. Pours a pitch black color with a light brown, creamy head. Very roasted aroma with lots of smoke, smoked meat, campfire, leather, coffee, dark wood and very dark chocolate. The flavor is also quite roasted with additional tones of ash, leather and rubber. Has a silky and slick mouth feel, and a light bitterness. A balanced and rich IS that is very well-roasted.

750 ml bottle shared by Cuso at RB Tasting Vienna March Edition. Thanks!
Very dark brown body, with a massive, frothy, brown head.
Aroma of coffee, dark chocolate, some smoke, dark and dried fruits, liquorice.
Taste follows this, with some more caramel.
Full, creamy mouthfeel, with a lively carbonation.
Finishes roasty, dry, with coffee, cocoa powder, dried fruits.

Tasty. Full, heavy malty, but still not as strong as the ABV suggests. Not among my favourite Imperial Stouts, but a very pleasant one!
