Hemel & Aarde is brewed with the most heavily peated malts we could find. Not for the fainthearted. This powerful brew overwhelms you with smoke, chocolate and coffee. Flavour indication: smoke, chocolate, coffee Translates as Heaven & Earth

Kicsi, nem túl tartós, barna hab, fekete szín. Kakaós, csokis, kávés, aszalt gyümölcsös illat. Enyhén füstös, csokis, kakaós, kávés, aszalt gyümölcsös ízek. Enyhén édeskés, testes, enyhén szénsavas, erősen keserű. Nagyon finom, mintaszerű stout.

Bottle at home picked up from the brewery. Bottled 04/05/2019. Ajet black coloured pour with a lasting light tan head. Aroma is salty meat, soy, smoked malts, phenolic, charred wood. Flavour is composed of rich sweet fruit cake, mellow roast with a hint of ash, muscavado sugars, rich, some background smoked malts, phenols. Palate is medium sweet, medium full bodied, velvety. little lingering farmyard roast, leather,

My 2000th rating on RB in Beer O'clock - Bucharest. Rocky off white head on a dark mahogany still body. Smoked bacon aroma. Medium to full bodied greasy & cloying on the palate. Sweet liquorice, malt, syrup & jam tastes.

Corked bottle 263 of 360, 9,5% ABV. Almost pitch black and opague, small head. Furiously peated aroma, hiding the malt, licorice and dark chocolate somewhat. Very full bodied, thick mouthfeel, like fluid bread. Low on carbon. Dark chocolate, loads of peat, lapsang souchong tea, chocolate cake, culminating in an almost endless aftertaste that also has licorice. Should gain in complexity and roundness by further cellaring, preferably in whisky casks. So young, so sweet, so pretty, so tough.....

I find De Molen brews almost impossible to find in the states, got fortunate with Hemel & Aarde in Santa Fe at Susan’s. My thanks. A 33 cl bottle that says dob on 5/3/12. Times awasting, I lift the lid and pour into my Cowtown snifter. It delivers a chocolate-black body topped with a fleeting top of light tan, very fine bubbles. The snifter shares the scent of earth and charcoal. Curious. The taste, rather different, and in a good way, tobacco, ash, blueberry, toffee, burnt pecans and bakers chocolate. No hint at all of the 10% abv. A nuanced veer from your standard imperial stout, not sure I will seek out later. But it is good. Points for trying something different.

Tap pour at Armsby Abbey. Appearance is pitch black with no discernible sparkle, finger-width light brown foamy head with decent retention. Aroma has roasted malt but also a weird, quasi-industrial plastic/glue earthy/tart thing going on. Taste is similar to aroma; weird. Yes, strong, rich roasted malt but also a tart/yeasty sourness that's pseudo-industrial--not altogether pleasant. Palate is medium bodied with smooth texture, soft carbonation and finish as taste. Overall, some nice, decadent bits here but a bit of a weird quality as well.

Bottle. Malty peaty aroma, chocolate, light coffee, caramel. Tastes the same as aroma, light sweet, medium bitter. Full body, malty peaty bitter sweet finish. Good.
