Hemel & Aarde is brewed with the most heavily peated malts we could find. Not for the fainthearted. This powerful brew overwhelms you with smoke, chocolate and coffee. Flavour indication: smoke, chocolate, coffee Translates as Heaven & Earth

Draught at Ahrendsnest. Jet black with a mocha head. Aroma of peat malt. Flavour is a balance of warm booze, smoked malt, licorice on a long sweet plum finish.

From a 330ml bottle on 13//2017. Pours a dark brown with almost no head. The aroma features caramel, chocolate, soy and some light smoke. The flavour is rich, mirroring the nose - caramel, chocolate, soy and campfire ash, along with lots of peatiness, some roasted malt, and a firm dash of bitterness.. the texture is slightly syrupy with soft carbonation. Very nice, though quite similar to a number of other dark smoked De Molens I’ve tried of late.

Bottle, five years after bottling. Pours pitch black, with a finger thick, creamy off white head. Aroma is burned malts with notes of smoked wood, coffee and chocolate, as well as some caramel and tobacco. Medium to full body, with soft carbonation. Flavour is dark roasted malts, light malt bitterness with coffee and dark chocolate, liquorice, tar and wooden barrels.

Bottle, 330 ml, shared with JFK10000. Pours dark brown, medium tan head. Peat, smoked, malty, chocolate, very sweet. Aroma better than flavor. Medium to full bodied. Soft carbonation, oily.

Looking at the ABV on this bad boy, I opted for my snifter.
The appearance was a dark brown close to black color with a tan foamy head that held for at least a good minute. Mild glossy tan lacing strung all about.
The aroma has a superb blend of milk and dark chocolate malts to smoke. Dried meatiness at the end.
The flavor combines the milk and dark chocolate sweetness to the smoke. Leans to a slight sticky milk chocolate sweet aftertaste and rolling on into the aftertaste.
On the palate, this one sat about a medium on the body with a nice sipping quality about it. Carbonation seems to run very low and allows a light stickiness running all around.
Overall, damn fine smoked porter or stout or imperial stout, whatever the hell this thing is supposed to be. Just so damn good that I would love to have again in a heartbeat.

Completely black with some imperial stout-ish foam. Aroma is very smokey, reminiscent of an Islay whisky, which is really dominant. Some dark malts. Flavour is of an imperial stout but with a strong Islay smoke note. Full bodied, complex and still more dark malts. Very nice smokey impy!!
