Imperial Brown Ale Aged in Bourbon Barrels with Toasted Coconut Added

This is our bourbon barrel-aged imperial brown ale, Mash, stretching to new levels. Mash & Coconut features nearly 400lbs. of toasted coconut per batch, which ratchets up the complex, native coconut character and complements the oaky and vanilla notes that are imparted to the beer as part of its extensive maturation in bourbon barrels.

Keg at BD Camden, 19/04/18. Rich golden amber with a well presented beige covering. Nose carries a good coconut vibe, toffee, sweet malts, dried fruits, caramac bar. Taste comprises vanilla essence, more coconut shreds, sweet but not OTT, caramel, booze kicking in, bourbon evident. Full bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close with a rising boost. Decent sipper and checks in under the ABV but not sure I could drink a lot.

Thanks! 750 ml. bottle sampled @ Samson en Geert bierproeverij. Light brown amber, little head. Nose is bit too plastic in a strange way, caramel syrup, massively alcoholic. Bit thin oddly little coconut, stupidly alcoholic bit plastic caramel, sugar, bourbon syrup. Still nice but remember liking the other version a lot more.

Bottle at tasting. Aroma of delicious bourbon, caramel fudge, muddy malt, coconut, oak and figs. Taste has rich bourbon vanilla, coconut, caramel fudge, ripe fruit, booze, figs and a long boozy finish. Delicious.

Amber, light caramel, lots of toasted coconut, sweet, sticky. It’s ok but not at the top of the coconut game.

Amber color. Sweet aroma; there is some coconut, toffee, peanuts; sweet mouthfeel, some alcohol; it comes through as artificial and boozy, but good.
