Black Currant is a sour beer fermented with black currants. To give the beer its sour taste we add Lactobacillus to the mix. A beer within the New Nordic Beer project, brewed with only Nordic ingredients.

There isn't much of a story behind this beer. The beer kinda made itself. Before making it, we we're already working within the New Nordic Beer project and had already made a New Nordic Sour, so giving it that extra oomph by adding Swedish Black Currants was a given. At first it wasn't organic but when we came across organic berries, naturally we made it so.

(Bottle, 0.33 l - BB 26.11.2021, from Pien, 20200530) The beer poured ruby red with brown shading and clear. Its head was medium sized and lightly purple. Aroma had black currant, sweetness and tartness. Palate was medium bodied with medium carbonation. Flavours were black currant, tartness, sweetness, sourness and bitterness. Aftertaste had sourness and bitterness. Not a bad brew but I'd rather have black currant juice.

On keg at the Hanging Bat. Appearance - deep purple. Pinkish head. Nose - sour fruit possibly blackcurrant but could be other berries. General funkiness. Taste - blackcurrant confirmed. Palate - tangy and close to medium bodied with a tangy middle and finish. Overall - good.

(Bottle) Reddish amber colour with frothy, pinkish off-white head. Fruity, tart nose with raspberries, black-currant, hay and a lactic acidity. Fruity, tart taste with notes of black-currant, raspberries, lemon, hay, spices and a tart and dry finish. Light to medium body, dry. Tart and a bit unrefined, but fairly tasty. Quite enjoyable.

Tap at Bishops Arms Östersund. Decent smell. Classic Swedish sour taste. Not the best but really good.
