A 12% imperial stout. Unlike its namesake, you’ll want to invite this one in.

We've only gone and brewed up Death.

An imperial stout at an almighty 12%. Well balanced with rich, decadent chocolate reigning supreme. Blackcurrant and berry notes in the aroma with a touch of plum lingering in the background. It's the stout you need in your life, unlike it's namesake, you'll want to invite this one in.

Shrewsbury Beer Exchange Group meeting in Chez Sophie on 20th Feb 2018; 440ml can from Mike, cheers mate. Black bodied, thin tanned covering for a head. Chocolate and coffee notes in the nose and taste, boozy feel. The body depth however belied the alcohol strength and didn't seem rich, slick or viscous enough to carry the beers alcohol through. Overall it's malty and dry, pity about it's body depth. Still liked it though.

Can @ monthly tasting, Chez Sophie, Feb 18. Courtesy of Mike. Thanks Mike. Pours dark, thin mocha head. Medium sweet roast, chocolate nose. Taste is a little light in terms of body, hard to believe it's 12%, chocolate, light roast, soft bitterness, ash, coffee.. it's alright but expected a bit more body and depth of flavour.

Can shared in London - thanks to Kenny. Pours black-brown with a creamy, tan head. The nose holds sugary chocolate, some dried dark fruits, berries. Medium to big sweet flavour with mild chocolate, grape. Full bodied with fine to average carbonation. Warming finish, a little ash, more ripe and dried dark fruits. Nice overall, but really hefty.

Can at L42 - care of Ken. It pours cloudy darkest brown with a small tan head. The aroma is sweet, sticky, dried fruits, raisin, sultana, toasted brown sugars and dried fruits. The taste is dry, bitter - sweet, sticky, berry skin, rocky road, umami, liquorice, chocolate ice cream, peppery spice and tar with a slick and sweet finish. Medium - full body and average carbonation. Not a huge amount to it fair.

Can. Opaque dark brown beer, small tan head. Smooth palate, mildly dry, decent fine carbonation. Smooth dark malts, bitterish, little roast. Little salty chocolate. Dark fruits underneath, tangy and bitter also. Modest bitterish finish. Okay. Bit tangy - bitter.
