A 12% imperial stout. Unlike its namesake, you’ll want to invite this one in.

We've only gone and brewed up Death.

An imperial stout at an almighty 12%. Well balanced with rich, decadent chocolate reigning supreme. Blackcurrant and berry notes in the aroma with a touch of plum lingering in the background. It's the stout you need in your life, unlike it's namesake, you'll want to invite this one in.

440ml can. Pours black with a thin short-lived tan head. Aroma of dried fruits, roast malts, booze, liquorice. Taste of dried fruits, liquorice, roast malts, alcohol is a bit harsh, almost astringent. Medium-full body, fine carbonation. Good but the alcohol is a little too harsh for it to be really special.

440 ml can from Boxbeers. Thanks to PowY!
Very dark brown body, with a big, creamy, dark beige head.
Aroma of roast, ash, dark chocolate, nuts, dark fruits, slight citrus.
Tastes quite similar, less ashy, with some more coffee, some liquorice, slight alcohol.
Medium, oily mouthfeel, with a moderate carbonation.
Finishes warm, medium roasty, a bit sweet, a bit wooden, with dark chocolate, cocoa, some dark fruits, slight liquorice.

Very nice, while not outstanding. Quite unusual style example, with quite a lot of ash and fruits, that overlap the roasty coffee-like notes too much for me. Lovely chocolate notes towards the finish though. Alcohol is noticeable, but well dosed. Not exactly how I like this style, while still an enjoyable sipper.

Can picked up from Beer District, Buxton and consumed at home Friday 2nd March 2018 during the second day of the meet up of 'The Beast from the East' and 'Storm Emma'. Cooking the Ultimate Chicken Shawarma, Cumnock Fried Padron Peppers and and Polenta Chips from Feast book. Pours black with a slim light cappuccino head. Lots of chocolate, smooth, indulgent and rich a touch of dark fruit and hint of coffee, but this is also a very simple beer as well, i.e. great drinkability, not designed to bombard you with flavours. I initially tried a small taster of this at Salt Horse in Edinburgh but came away feeling it was just fine, which certainly goes to show that's sometimes you need a whole can (or share with Loz) to truly appreciate a beer, so glad I had it again. (440ml can from boxbeers.dk) Pours black with a big loose dark tan head that fades slowly with lace. Aroma of raw sugar, molasses, dark berries, dark pit fruit, touch of chocolate, acidic roast, char. Flavour of caramel, berries, toasted malt, soft spice, a bit of choco/vanilla in the back, peppery bitterness in the finish, dusty. Mid-sweet turning very dry, quite some alcohol assisting that. Rather low flavour concentration. Light body is thin and watery with soft carbonation. Not so well balanced, some of the flavours are nice but thin, boozy quality undermines those.

Can split at L42, thanks to Kenneth, 13/02/18. Black with a decent tan head. Nose is mellow roast, spice, charr, dark toffee, fruit rinds. Taste comprises fruit cake, light spice trail, blackberries, chocolate, toffee, earthy. Full bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close with a boosty nip. Ok impy stout ... carries off the 12% fairly well but ultimately lacks some depth.

Can from dead crafty, Liverpool. Jet black no head. Aroma light chocolate roasted malts and unfortunately floral soap. Taste starts roasted full and bitter but a touch series and yes soapy to finish. Smooth and full body. Recently tried in keg and re-reviewed as not soapy, lots of chocolate slight coffee, smooth and full bodied. really nice.
