11/7/2020. Bottle at the NCFC relegation party, bought from Lauvas Alus, Riga. Poured rich, black with a bubbly tan coloured head. Aroma of dark chocolate, coffee, toffee, ash and charcoal. Moderate sweetness and medium roasted bitterness. Full bodied, slick texture, average carbonation. Good one, enjoyed this.

500ml bottle. Jet black colour with minimally late awakening, thick, frothy, diminishing, minimally lacing, dark brown head. Roasty, chocolately, dark malty aroma, notes of dark chocolate, caramel, some toffee, coffee, a touch of nougat and roasted nuts, liquorice, peat and leather. Taste is roasty dark malty, sweet-ish caramel malty, notes of caramel and treacle, hints of dark chocolate, some liquorice, coffee, a touch of peat and leather, unspecific fruity overtones with a touch of dark berries, plum, plum butter, some honey as well. Oily to viscous texture, smooth and soft, slighly cloying palate, lingering, sweet-ish dark malty and minimally warming, alcoholic finish. Rich and complex, very harmonious and integrated. This one is really impressive.

500mml. bottle. @home, 31/12/2019. [#3.167 Global - #50 Russia - #5 Bakunin Brewery]. Pitch black colour with a minimal tan head that dissipates quickly. Aroma is strong dark chocolate, smoked malts and peated. Taste is again intense peaty and dark chocolate leading to a thick and boozy finish. Long aftertaste. Next one please!

Keg at Craft Bier Cafe, St Petersburg. It pours jet black with a decent tan head. The nose is soft, bitter-sweet, black forest gateaux, chocolate, sweet coffee, varnish and jammy berry. The taste is smooth, rich roast, bitter-sweet, chocolate gateaux, toasty, pepper, treacle, earth, coffee, berry, with a warming finish. Fulsome body, moderate carbonation and velvety mouth-feel. Good depth and great drinkability for the style. Delicious.
