Collabfest 2019 Bamberg Helles Rauchbier - Pouring light golden in colour with a dense white foam, Succumb to Smoke is an elegant lager beer with a fine balance of beechwood smoke character and malt. Smokey notes of bacon & ham on the nose lead in to a medium-dry palate with lightly sweet malt and restrained bitterness jostling for the finish. Sublime and unexpectedly moreish.

Keg at brewdog Lothian road. Pours clear golden, nose is meaty, smoked cheese, caramel, taste is similar, could do with a bit more smoke. 8/3/8/4/16

Delt med Rune. Gyldenbrun. Aroma av røkt svinekam. Så vidt litt skum langs glasset. Klar. Smaken som aromaen. OK for stilen.

On draught at BrewDog Leicester as part of Collabfest 2019. Mid- to dark gold, clear with no head. Big, and I mean big smoked malts in the aroma. Smoked wood and ham dominate the heady scent. Tastes lovely and surprisingly balanced: the clean hoppy flavour of the Helles shines through beyond the smoked malt. Could do with more body in the finiah, and a bit more carbonation. All the same, this is one to seek out.
