For me, this stout was a good surprise, well brewed and fully aromatic at the mouth. You get a side of roasted malt, chocolate, vanilla and a touch of cherry at the final, 12.09.20 at Epalinges, buying it at one franprix, place de l'Aligre.

Organic stout brewed in the French Bourgogne, from a bottle with classy label with ‘bas-relief’, looking quite attractive. Many thanks to my former colleague Jarno for this one! Frothy, thick and stable, slowly receding, greyish pale beige head on a black beer with thin burgundy edges. Aroma of coffee grounds, dried elderberries, dry caramel, brown bread crust cassis, chicory, dried prunes, nutmeg, red apple peel hint, even background notes of pear blossoms and violets. Quite ‘juicy’ onset for a dry stout, elderberry-, blue plum- and blackcurrant-like with a restrained but pleasant fruity sweetness to it; medium carb, slightly minerally, through malty layers of dry caramel, brown bread crust, some dark chocolate and eventually black coffee, the roasty bitter flavours of which linger along the remainders of that blackcurrant aspect, spiced by leafy hop bitter notes which further dry the finish. Begins relatively ‘colourful’ and vividly fruity for the intended style – all for the better in this case – and ends like a good old-fashioned Irish dry stout: I could not have wished for anything better in this range. Absolutely lovely ‘sessionable’ stout, better than expected even.

Zwart bier met weinig schuim. Smaak is licht zoet en licht bitter met iets van karamel, romige chocolade en koffie. Tevens een heel licht fruitig zuurtje te herkennen.
