Ingredients: Pale ale, Munich, Black, Chocolate malts; Nugget hops; Wyeast 1056 yeast; water.
To brew this beer we were inspired by the shorter days, colder nights and firewood smoke. This beer is all about autumn. It’s base is a robust porter but in addition to that we smoked our base malts on alder wood in our own smoker. We would not stop until the malts were full of smokey phenols. This way the smokiness dominates on the nose of this brew.

Bottle, 5.9%. Very dark brown with small beige head. Aroma is roasted malt, smoke, meat and caramel. Flavour is roasted malt, smoke, caramel, medium sweet, little bread, hop, little meat and a little bitter.

Bottle @ my place. Nice head with good duration. Color is dark brown. Aroma and taste are rich smoke, ashes, caramel, wood and hops.

Bottle @ Saxo tasting. Almost black with a beige head. Aroma is sweet, roasted malt and heavy smoked meat. Flavor is quite sweet and moderate bitter. Sweet finish. 090116

330ml bottle. Darkest brown colour with small, frothy, half-way lasting, minimally lacing, beige head. Smoky, dark malty aroma, notes of ham, a chocolately touch. Taste is smoky, dark malty, notes of ham, ashes, birch, a touch of chocolate and treacle. Watery, flat carbonation, slightly insipid; lasting woody and smoky finish, sticky palate, slightly oily texture.

Trübes dunkel braunes Bier mit einer geringen beigen Schaumkrone. Geruch rauchig, schokoladig, leicht säuerlich. Geschmack süß rauchig, schokoladig, etwas schwach.
