Our take on the Double-Double is double the coffee and double the dry-hopping! We used Mosaic for a deep berry character, with Amarillo and Ekuanot bolstering the strong hop character. A higher than normal mashing temperature gives a residual sweetness, helped with allergen-free hazelnut extract and some vanilla. The Peruvian Huabal coffee comes via Pharmacie Coffee Roasters, and provides notes of baked apple and orange marmalade with a sweet and full toffee body.

Draft. A hazy amber beer with a lazing beige head. The aroma has notes of coffee, caramel, and malt. The flavor is sweet with notes of coffee, lemons, hops, caramel, and malt, leading to a bitter finish.

Pours a hazy gold with a short lived pale cream colour head. Wasn’t expecting a beer this colour to be frank! Smooth if light hops provide a modicum or sweetness, a little cream. Berry hop character, some light Mosaic blueberry. Pine. The lightest and smoothest cappuccino vibe integrates well. Smooth semi dry finish. Good stuff, I mean good for a coffee pale ale. Pretty drinkable whilst never really singing.

A lovely golden coffee pale. A style I've only discovered but this a splendid variant thereof. Decent crisp hop in there along with the coffee. Like it.

Bottle bought at the beerkoning in Amsterdam. Pours a quite clear gold with a reddish/orange tint. Very little carbonation and also little head. Aroma is malty and clean, a tad caramel and biscuit maybe and quite a lot of fruity coffee. Medium body. Flavour has a lovely balance, malty and sweet but not too much. Good hop flavour but nothing intense - considering it's DDH the coffee comes out more than the hops. Still a nice hop profile which is mostly floral and fruity, maybe some berries but might also be from coffee. The coffee is indeed rather dominant, but I like it - it's not overbearing and goes well with the malt profile. Really fruity coffee, with notes of berries and nice intermingling with hops to give a citrusy finish, which is rather dry. Lovely pale ale!

Keg at the Merchant - Canary Wharf. Pours mostly clear yellow with a tight, creamy white head. Fun beer, nice rich and bitter coffee character, pithy citrus, grapefruit, lemon rind, pine. Medium bodied with average carbonation. More vibrant, bittersweet coffee in the finish, pale bread, citrus fruits, grass. Well made.

Bottle at Rickham Cottages, 22/06/19. Hazed orange with a decent off white cap that retains well. Nose is orange pith, coffee grinds, light pine, airy malts. Taste comprises grapefruit zest, coffee cake, soft malts, tangerine, light white peppery spice, caramel, mixed tropicana. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close with a good coffee vibe and balanced juicy hop bitterness. Solid coffee pale.
