KIRI 霧 (meaning “mist” in Japanese) combines dried orange peel, coriander, flaked wheat and a small percentage of oats in the grist to create a straw-coloured Belgian wheat ale we hope Pierre Celis would approve. The oats are key here, providing a delightful creamy texture that stages notes of tangerine pith, bright lemon, spice, and a hint of under ripe banana. Light and bubbly with a dry finish, our Belgian Wit is a delicate example of a style that was almost lost to history. We raise our glass and thank god its not!

On tap at Stillwell Freehouse. Pours hazy blonde with a white head. Wheat, dry banana esters, and a touch of phenols on the nose. Flavour is similar, dominated by a dry estery profile, some bitter phenols, and a wheaty malt character. Nice carbonation. Solid.

Slightly hazy golden color with white head but much less hazy than witbier. Bone dry, lots of coriander and orange peel, but doesn’t have as soft mouthfeel as I would expect. Pretty middle of the road wit.
