The inspiration for this dark and mysterious collaboration with Dugges is an old Gothenburg Porter; our recipe is loosely based on historical malt bills. There’s also a modern touch, with a hint of peated malt and a nice alcohol backbone to really layer up the roasty flavours. In Scandinavian folklore, Draugen is the ghost of a sailor, now often associated with anything dark or mysterious about the sea.

330ml bottle, 11.1 % abv, bought at Vinmonopolet Langnes. Rich lacing from bubbly, fawn-coloured head that stayed for a while. Very dark body with a deep ruby shade. Cocoa nose with a discreet peaty touch. Nice malt-driven taste of cocoa, liquorice, and peat joined by dark berries towards an enduring finish, delicately roasted. Integrated alcohol. Full bodied. Lovely warm sipper on a cold eve up north (snow in June). (Tromsø 07.06.2018).

Flaske fra Vinmonopolet Tromsø Langnes. Drukket på Bergstua. Svart. Middels høyt luftig, mokkafarget, saktedalende skum. Litt lacing. Pent! Sammensatt aroma av lakris, metall & sjokolade. Smaken det samme. Overdose sjokolade etter hvert. Tørr ettersmak med innslag av torv. Komplekst. Meget vellykket samarbeid.

Bottle from Madmitch cheers Kenneth; dark brown pour with a big creamy tan head, aroma has smoke and roast malt, taste has some medicinal action to go along with the smoke but this mellows into smooth malts, some chocolate.

33cl bottle. Poured near black in color with a thin off white head. Light wood, gentle but strong smoke, coffee and chocolate. Roastedness, chocolate, smoke and coffee in a good balance. Muscovado sugar balances thing and takes the edge of the high abv. Still not a sugar bomb in anyway. Pleasant, really nice imperial porter. Hoppy burbs. Balance is the key here.

Bottled. A brown beer with a tan head. The aroma has notes of caramel, malt, and straw. The flavor is sweet with notes of malt, straw, and caramel, leading to a bitter finish.
