New England’s Original IPA | As enjoyable today as it was in ‘93, IPA is a regional favorite and a craft beer classic. Styled after an English IPA but brewed with distinctly American hops, it’s citrusy, refreshing, and perfectly balanced– as perfect on a Cape Cod beach as it is in a VT ski lodge or Boston dive bar.

(Bottle, Oliver Twist, Stockholm, 28 Apr 2010) Golden amber colour with brief, white head. Fruity, hoppy nose with apricots, orange peel and fresh hops. Fruity taste with notes of apricots, citrus, biscuits and fresh hops in the finish. Medium body, balanced sweetness. A well balanced and tasty IPA.

Draft @ Ballydoyle, Downers Grove. Lighter amber color than the Pegasus I previously rated. Clearer body, a thin lacy layer of foam. Light malt scent is all I can pick up. Taste opens to amber malt at the start, with a note of yeast. A bit of fresh hop, but mostly English bittering. Hews closely to English IPA style.

12oz can. Caramel orange-tan body. Foamy, glass lacing, off-white head. A real classic East Coast IPA. Mellow hop bitterness, toasty malts. Balanced and enjoyable. Drinks a lot more enjoyably than most modern IPA. OK.

A golden IPA with a thick receeding white head. In aroma, a nice floral hops, pinous, and classy. In mouth, a rather crisp and British rendition, with biscuitty malts, good floral hops, not overpowering. A nice entry level IPA. On tap at Harpoon Tap House, Logan Airport, Nov. 11 2009.

A rock-solid IPA here. Sampled it at a tasting while in college. Nice golden color with a medium head. Strong hops odor and flavor. A wonderful session beer.

Bottle. Pours a cloudy golden with a medium frothy white head that leaves sticky lacing along the glass. The aroma is floral hops with citrus and orange peel. The taste is a crisp hop with grapefruit and a nice bitter finish. Easy to drink, a good IPA from Harpoon.

Bottle marked best by 6/15/09. Pours with a medium sized foamy head over a clear, pale, golden color. Aroma contains some very weak pine and spicy hops, and light caramel. Taste is pine, light caramel, a few off noted fruity esters, and a slightly astringent finish. Fizzy, bitter finish with a dry mouthfeel.
