New England’s Original IPA | As enjoyable today as it was in ‘93, IPA is a regional favorite and a craft beer classic. Styled after an English IPA but brewed with distinctly American hops, it’s citrusy, refreshing, and perfectly balanced– as perfect on a Cape Cod beach as it is in a VT ski lodge or Boston dive bar.

Pours amber from a bottle with a medium quick-dissipating head, with some lacing. Aroma is not terribly hoppy like some IPAs, almost closer to a pale ale. Flavor the hops come through, again not overpowering, but strong. Maybe this is what IPAs used to be like? Good beer.

Draught @ New York Sports Bar, JFK airport
Pours orange with a small foamy head. Aroma of fruits, pine, citrus and grass. Taste is smooth, watery and slightly fruity with hints of hops. Finish is slightly crisp and malty with some citrusy hops. Quite easy going.

Deep golden with a white head - Malt and some hops in the aroma - Nice malt to support a nice hop profile with some fruity notes and some bitterness - the hops goes into a light bitter finish - This was nice

It wasn’t bad, but not particularly memorable, either. Fairly typical IPA. Had with lunch at Fire + Ice restaurant in Cambridge, MA.

Bottle, 12oz, at Haand Festival -14. It pours an almost clear body, golden in color and with a small, white head. The aroma is piney and citrus peel-ish, with some malts kicking in. Bitter flavor with piney, citrusy hops on a backdrop of pale malts. Full-bodied, soft and nicely carbonated, with bitter, citrusy finish. I prefer the even more hop forward west coast IPA’s, but this is a really fine one anyway. 140523

Reviewed from notes.
The appearance had a clear, bubbly, and light gold in color, white frothy head with good sticky lacing that doesn’t last.
The smell had some floral, citrus, and some grassy pine. There were subdued malts come out as it warms.
The taste had a mild citrus hop flavor, malts come out as it warms.
The palate sat about a medium, somewhat sticky coating the mouth and tongue, sessionable, sticky finish, no aftertaste.
Overall, this was a pretty good American IPA, maltier than most AIPA’s, but hey I’d come back to it.
