New England’s Original IPA | As enjoyable today as it was in ‘93, IPA is a regional favorite and a craft beer classic. Styled after an English IPA but brewed with distinctly American hops, it’s citrusy, refreshing, and perfectly balanced– as perfect on a Cape Cod beach as it is in a VT ski lodge or Boston dive bar.

I’m surprised I haven’t reviewed this beer yet, I’ve had it many times. This rating reflects the brew as I had it on tap at Dave’s house, thanks for the opportunity. Clear deep golden color with a decent frothy white head that persists forever. Earthy citrus hop aroma countered with plenty of bready caramel malt. Old school bitter citrus flavor with a fair amount of brown sugar read and caramel. Medium body with a moderate level of carbonation and a slick almost sweet mouthfeel. After all these years this is still a pretty good IPA.

Bottle. Biscuit malt and light fruity hops aroma. Clear medium gold with a large off-white head. Light sweet caramel malt, citrus peel and fruity hops flavor. Medium body, very soft carbonation. Rather malt forward IPA, bit in my book that’s a good thing.
