Cask at Lych Gate, Wolverhampton. Pours a dark reddish brown with a small cream head. Nose has a decent aroma of vanilla and dark fruits. In the mouth, the texture is creamy with low carbonation. There’s a lot going on tastewise. Many berry fruits and roast malts but also chocolate and traces of toffee and honey. Let down a bit by the finish which is fruity but watery. Despite that, this is very nice indeed.

Bottle at home, 23/05/20. Extremely dark mahogany brown with a well presented lasting tan head of khaki bubbles. Nose is cocoa powder, roast malts, toffee, brown sugar dusting, nutty twang. Taste comprises light dried fruit esters, mellow roast, cocoa sprinkle, brown bread, raisins. Medium bodied, light spritzy carbonation, semi drying close. Decent flavoursome porter.

Bottle from Beers Of Europe. Clear dark ruby body with a thick beige head. Lively carbonation. Faint lacing. Aroma of nuts, earth, chocolate and coffee. Flavour of brambles, dried leaves and black pepper. Medium body with a smooth mouthfeel. Soft fizz. An excellent beer. Complex and flavoursome. Would love to try this on cask.
