On tap at Ilgezeem stall Centratirgus, Riga Has a small white head when first poured, but this soon disappears. Colour mid-amber and is slightly cloudy. Nose isn’t very pronounced, but I got aniseed and maize. Taste predominantly citrus, but with hints of almond and banana as well, with a soft carbonation. Finish reminded me of nothing so much as traditional barley-sugar sweets ! This is a good example of traditional Latvian “lauku alus” (country beer), but without the overwhelming di-acetyl presence that some have. Note that Ilgeciema is spelt differently than on some of their other beers.
