500 Lager is a so-called 'hoppy lager'; a bottom-fermented beer with a noticeable hoppy character, brewed with only bayer malt and is dry-hopped with centennial hops. The brew is amber coloured. Upon drinking this beer, you will immediately notice the scent of centennial hops with its juicy fruitiness, combined with a banana scent, resulting from the Dahls' yeast. Additionally, the malt adds a mild caramel sweetness. The hops are also evident in taste and the bitterness well balanced against the body and mild sweetness. Citrus notes from the hops refreshed. Long-lasting aftertaste.

In brewing this 500 Lager, we drew inspiration from our first BETA beer, which was a Bayern-inspired beer brewed with the unique Dahls' yeast. In addition, the beer was brewed on the 500th anniversary of 'Das Reinheitsgebot' (the German purity lov). The beer became a success, but quickly emptied the stocks.

At E.C. Dahls, we want to stay true to our history but at the same time, test new ideas and inspirations. This is why we have replaced the traditional hops varieties with the distinctive centennial hops, resulting in a hoppy lager.

Bottled (from Rema 1000 Kirkenes). Pale copper colour, small slightly off-white head. Aroma is grains, malts, some floral and bready notes. Flavour is grainy, herbal, some rubbery and quite chewy dry notes with some strange sweetness. Mouthdrying, in a non-pleasant way.

Amber colour, small white head. Bready, harsh aroma. Light-bodied. Harsh, bready and grassy flavour. Some caramel. Meh.

Bottle 050817. Deep golden color with an off-white head. Aroma is fruit, malt, hop, caramel. Flavor is fruit, malt, hop, caramel, pine, bread. Easy drinkable ordinary beer.

Light amber with off white head - Malt with hints of caramel and some hops in the aroma - Malt body with caramel flavour with some hos and bitterness as well - the malt and the hop bitterness goes into the finish - This was nice

330ml bottle from my local Prix store. Off-white head over a bright golden-brown body. Lacing rings on the glass. Distant aroma of herbal hops with malty sweetness. Mixed taste of caramel malts and ripe citrus. Hints of leafy hops to the ending. Satisfying. (Tromsø 26.08.2017).

Bottle 33 cl. Amber, clear with a minimal white head. Aroma of hops, malt and caramel. Medium bitter with a short hops and caramel end.

0.33l bottle. This one pours a pretty much clear looking deep golden colored body with a nice medium sized off-white head, lots of small dots down the glass. Smells OK. Sweetish and a little caramel. Green apple candy sweetness, traces of hops. Surprisingly OK smelling this. Tastes ok also. It has a thin oily texture in the mouth and it's just about average on the carbonation. Malty and a little mouthdrying. Sweet vegetal tones. Dusty hops. Mild nutty hints beforehand it ends sharp metallic. A decent tasting lager. 03.06.2017

Flaske 330ml fra Eide Handel. Mørk gylden. Høyt luftig skum som daler sakte. Spotlacing. Aroma av mango & fersken. Smaken det samme. En uvanlig lager.
