Bottle to snifter.
Appearance: dark brown close to black with a finger's worth of khaki foamy head which dissipated nicely to leave some light messy lace
Aroma: dark fruits, milk chocolate, whiskey and barrel tones, dark cherries, a little bit of vanilla, and a touch of bourbon
Flavor: blends the prior noted aromas to a fine sweet to light spicy tone I believe coming from those barrels; finishes sweet through the blend of all those aromas
Texture: medium bodied, great sipper, light smoothness and a touch of dryness
Overall: I believe the bottle that was sent to me was slightly aged which I didn't mind because the barrel notes didn't have much "heat" to them to none at all.

0.355l bottle from trade with ig88b. Thanks man! Looks really nice in the glass this, almost like pouring dark motor oil in the glass (not that I've actually ever done that before). It's really deep dark, almost black in color and it has a nice little loud head. Loud, by what can only be described as fizzing. Dark beige or brown in color. Smells really nice. Rich dark chocolate, a nice but sharp alco sting, tones of burnt sugar and a really rich dark roastiness. Traces of cold coffee, coffee latte actually! Added cream. That's what it is.. It actually a bit thin and boozy in the taste above average on the carbonation. Tastes sharp and a tad unbalanced. Almost a little phenolic in a way. Lots of nice chocolate though, and it's definitely barrelled! Rum and smoke are definitely prominent. The rich and bitter sweet kind of chocolate. Cocoa with hints of licorice in the finish. The sweet kind. It really grew on me this down the glass this. Even though it smoothen itself after gaining some temp I still wish the mouthfeel had been a tad more pleasant. 17.10.2014
