In collaboration with J. Wakefield Brewing, Affogato Imperial Stout is inspired by a few of our brewers' favorite summertime pick-me-up (& cool-me-down) Barrington's affogato. Our Affogato Imperial Stout is delectable, decadent, and smooth. Brewed with a blend of Barrington & Mostra beans, Affogato leads with aromas reminiscent of Vietnamese Iced Coffee (cà phê đá) - powerful course ground dark roast coffee poured over sweetened condensed milk & ice. Flavors of dark espresso, tiramisu, sweet chocolate cake, and smooth vanilla swirl across the pallet. Rich flavor & a dark, inviting appearance, Affogato Imperial Stout is our answer to a sweet summertime treat.

Bottle thanks to BillyT. It pours opaque black with a dark tan head. The aroma is sweet, sticky, chewy, toothy, vanilla, coconut, coffee, caramac, toffee crisp, espresso, dried fruits and earth. The taste is crisp, dry, bitter, earthy, wood, charred, coffee, vanilla, toasted coconut, chocolate torte, gateaux, thick and fulsome, caramac, boozy kick and coffee and spice with a drying, toothy finish. Fulsome body and moderate carbonation. Fun stuff.

Super acidic. In a bad way. It's very toasty and espresso forward, but not very balanced.

750ml bottle at Kump’s during the Pink session. Pours a very dark brown with a white beige head. Aroma is coffee with a very noticeable green pepper and grainy notes. Oily mouthfeel. Moderately to high sweet with lots of coffee and some milk and grainy notes. Very nice.

Pours black into a tulip. Mocha head with excellent retention recedes to coat surface. Chocolate and espresso aromas. Thick with dark chocolate, vanilla and caramel upfront turning to warm espresso in the sweet lasting finish.

Draught at Canton, 9/19/17.
Opaque, inky black body topped with a tan head that quickly recedes to a ring.
Coffee bean is very strong with light, creamy honey-vanilla behind it. Smells awesome, though of course, very adjunct heavy. Some light alcohol is noted on the end, but for its size and age, it's not bad at all. I do get a touch of light glue-like phenol, but I assume this will be absorbed by the yeast within a few more weeks.
Heavy cream-like consistency for a texture, but strong, expansive carbonation helps alleviate this, as does a healthy attenuation. Vanilla ice cream and honey marshmallow provides huge flavor across the board and certainly brings some sweetness, but acidity hits up front with light prune/plum/raisin notes to it. Earth and roast with light lactose lingering. Excellent dessert stout. This should age fantastically.
