Spitfire Amber Kentish Ale was first brewed in 1990 to commemorate the Battle of Britain which was fought in the skies above Kent 50 years earlier and is one of the leading ales in the UK. Spitfire Amber Ale combines the pick of Kentish hops to layer bitter orange marmalade flavour on top of sweet biscuits and caramel malts for a peppery dry finish. Hops: Target, Challenger, East Kent Goldings, First Gold.

Amber colour with a small white head. Caramel malty and fruity aroma. Moderate sweet caramel flavour. Light hoppy and some fruity notes. A fine fresh texture. British bitter on bottle are a lot fresher due to bit more carbonation. I like them this way.

Nice hoppiness here, a good bitter with a long lingering finish. A bit yeasty, perhaps, but it is a nice one.

Strong smell of bitter hops, a bitter aftertaste that leaves a bit of malty caramel at the end. A good mahogany pour with good head retention. Actually has quite a lot of carbonation for an English brew. One of the more pleasant bitters Iโve had recently. Half liter bottle.

Medium, cream head over foxy-copper, completely clear beer; some lace. Aromatic UK hops; some caramel, parsley, bit nutty (hazelnuts). Well-hopped, fine hops, bitter but absolutely no harshness; COยฒ mixing into flavour. Faint restsweetness retronasal, malty, but very refreshing on the whole. Bit aggressive carbonation, weird for a Brit ale. Rather light body. Despite the clear glass horror, despite the pasteurisation, a brewery as Shepsโ seems to be able to deliver fine, satisfying bottled ales. Why canโt the others obtain comparable results?
