Spitfire Amber Kentish Ale was first brewed in 1990 to commemorate the Battle of Britain which was fought in the skies above Kent 50 years earlier and is one of the leading ales in the UK. Spitfire Amber Ale combines the pick of Kentish hops to layer bitter orange marmalade flavour on top of sweet biscuits and caramel malts for a peppery dry finish. Hops: Target, Challenger, East Kent Goldings, First Gold.

Bottle. Clear amber with a decent white head. Aroma of tea leaves and a little bit of citrus fruits. Taste of toffee, tea, nuts, lemons and metal. Moderate tea-like bitterness. Low to medium carbonation. Watery. Slightly below average BItter.

Review based on the BJCP2015 guidelines (style 11C). Bottle 0,50 l - Batch 1668-01. AROMA: moderately-low to low earthy hop aroma with a medium-low caramel malt background. APPEARANCE: copper color and translucent. medium low ivory head with style average retention. TASTE: moderate hop flavour with earthy notes. low malty presence with a slight caramel and toffee character. medium bitterness with an almost dry finish and slightly bitter. PALATE: medium-light body with average carbonation. OVERALL: a Strong Bitter with less malt and hop presence than the average.

Bottle, 0.50l. Clear deep amber color with thin soapy off-white head and average sparkling appearance. Aroma is grassy, herbal, citric and caramelly. Taste starts with light sweet toffee and citrus, following is refreshing sour herbal and fruity, mouthfeel is dry and mild spicy, while finish is moderate bitter.Light body, thin texture and average carbonation in palate. Just a thirst killer...

Original bottle-conditioned 4.7% 500ml bottle (1996), shared @ Shrewsbury Beer Share, Sep 15, thanks to Mike for this dusty relic. Pours clear amber with frothy white head. Musty cardboard aroma following to the taste with some watery cobwebs and watery vinous sour. Average rating given. Will re-rate a fresh bottle when I get an opportunity.

0.5l bottle. Clear deep amber body, thin white head. Aroma of caramel, dark fruits, chocolate and floral hops. Taste of toast, orange zest, grains and floral hops. The sour grainy finish is not that nice, otherwise itโs OK.

Pours a clear amber color, topped with a small off-white head. Very fine lacing. Mild caramel aroma with quite some biscuity notes and some floral hops in the back. Sweet with lots of caramel and biscuity notes. Mild bittery finish, light body.
