Clear Skies was one of our first clear-but-juicy takes on IPA we ever brewed; bridging sub-styles with uncharacteristically low bitterness, a semi-heavy and sticky body, a huge tropical aroma, and a fairly clear appearance. The complex hop aroma is a balancing act between farm-fresh fruits like honeydew melon and ruby red grapefruit, blended with tropical guava and a resinous pine character that sticks to the palate. Its British base malt contributes a clean doughy character that subtly travels along the flavor profile start to finish, and its light carbonation keeps it stuck to your palate like its creamy cousins in the Northeast.

Can from The Davis Beer Shoppe. Pours bright, clear gold with a moderate white head. Aroma of ruby grapefruit. Med body. Dry. Pretty bitter - mostly from grapefruit pith. There's also melon and light pine. The bitter burns lightly in the mouth. Pretty good stuff.

Draught at Harry’s Hofbrau in San Jose. Fieldwork is so consistently good....and every once in a while they belt out an absolute classic. This is one of those cases. Beautiful marriage of citrus and pine, with cracker malt that blends nicely and hides the alcohol completely. So good.

Draft at Taplands, 5/18/16. Get a lot of that pine/dank/resiny hop with some grapefruit pith as well. Pour is clear and golden. Average head and streaky lacing. Resiny and a bit juicy on the flavor with a fairly low bitterness level for the style. Really just a well done IPA. Very impressed by this brewery.

On tap at Fieldwork. It pours a bright, light golden color with a white head. The aroma is full with citrus fruit. Mostly grapefruit and tangerine with light florals, lime and pineapple. The flavor is the same. Lime comes through a bit stronger with more grapefruit and hints of melon, mango and florals. Very fruity and citrus forward, which is a welcome change from some other their more earthy, resinous IPAs. Low to medium bitterness with a snappy, dry citric lime zest finish. Wonderfully soft mouthfeel. Really good.
