Location: Bottle from the brewery, 4/14/16
Aroma: Rye and grainy malts on the aroma, no roast, with a earth, spice, and citrus
Appearance: Dark brown with a creamy light brown colored head and average, spotty lacing
Flavor: Much more roast on the aroma, but the rye malt is still the dominant flavor up-front. The roast rolls in mid-palate, and it finishes with a fruity and earthy hop bitterness.
Palate: Drinks medium bodied with a lively tingle to the mouthfeel, and a mid-dry close
Overall Impression: I would say out of the 4 "identifying" words in the deScription I get the rye the most, the black (dark malt) the second most in the flavor (though it's barely there in the aroma), the IPA (hops) second in the aroma (third in the flavor), and the Belgian the least in flavor (and in a tie for last with the dark malts in the aroma). Not sure why I went into that level of detail on that, as it wasn't really interesting at all.
