Appearance - 8 | Aroma - 8 | Flavor - 9 | Texture - 10 | Overall - 9
Location: 750 ml from my Dad, 11/26/13, Thanks for the Hardywood hook-up Pops!
Aroma: The nose is yeasty and spicy, with tropical fruit, and a good amount of tequila
Appearance: A nice golden-orange with a small-to-mid white head and some coating, spotty lace
Flavor: Flavor-wise, it is clean and yeasty, some nice fruity flavors that meld nicely with the tequila
Palate: The body is medium, smooth and well-balanced, with a nice feel, and well-hidden ABV
Overall Impression: I thought this was excellent. It is truly a unique mix of flavors that all develop together to create an excellently complex and interesting beer. Some how it was tequila aged and clocks in at 10.5% and somehow still has no burn and feels very drinkable. I don't know how they pulled that off, but it is impressive. I haven't had the base beer, but the sweetness that occasional bothers me in this style isn't an issue at all here. This one is extremely well balanced between the spice, sweetness, and tequila flavors. Awesome stuff. I can't think of any Tripel (off the top of my head at least) that I have enjoyed more.
