330ml bottle. Jet black colour with late awakening, small, thick, creamy, half-way lasting, moderately lacing, brown head. Roasty dark malty and oaky aroma, notes of dark chocolate, coffee, leather, hints of treacle, a touch of Bourbon. Taste is bitter and sweet, roasty dark malty, notes of coffee surrogate, celery, lovage, dark chocolate, Belgian chocolate; lingering dark chocolately finish, well hidden alcohol. Oily to viscous texture, smooth and soft palate. OK overall, the finish is excellent - liquid black chocolate..

At Ramsgate’s own booth during Gents Bierfestival. Regularly shaped, pale yellowish beige, stable head over a black beer with thin burgundy hazy edges. Aroma of chocolate sauce, treacle, coffee grounds and coffee liqueur, candied banana, fig, bayleaf. Sweet onset, candied fig and dito banana, thick oily mouthfeel, viscous, very nutty malt body, toasty and eventually (bitter) chocolatey, ending in a warming and bittering finish with peppery hops and brandy-like alcohol. Typical modern imperial stout on the sweeter side of the style - which is clearly much stronger represented these days than the more old-fashioned and English-based roasted bitter examples.

Black and oily. Aroma and flavour of bittersweet roasted malt and a little woody dryness. Powerful.
