Miles, Brooklyn tap ($6): Pours light brown with a slightly off-white head. Aroma is earth, toffee, and bread. Taste is earthy malts with a slight hop bite. Not too much going on in the taste, but what is happening is quite good. Great bready aftertaste. Very slight bitterness. Extremely easy to drink. It would be excessively easy to down a great number of these. A good foray into this style for Barrier.

Location: Draft at Mission Dolores, 9/8/12
Aroma: This one has a nose of caramel, bread, nuts, and toffee
Appearance: It pours a clear dark orange color, coating white head/lace
Flavor: The taste of this one is medium sweet, mostly malt, and has a light spice hop
Palate: The body is light-medium, it has a tingly feel, and a mildly dry finish to it
Overall Impression: This one was a solid amd drinkable ESB with a enough of a hop backing to provide some balance to this malt-heavy beer.

Sampled at a tasting at Big Z in Huntington, NY - has a fairly strong, american style hop profile for an ESB, tasting more like a malty APA, but still tasty - fairly dry, but there is a nutty yeastiness and a toasty bready malt base to compliment the dry character and spicy hops - good - probably would work really well on cask.
