“Mon Chéri” means “my darling” in French and this recipe is a love letter from our brewer, Quinn, to his wife who loves cherries. Mon Chéri Stout is made with Balenton and Montmorency cherries, brewed with oats and a dash of brown sugar creating aromas of amaretto and almond. With one sip you’ll instantly get flavors of cherry cobbler, vanilla, and chocolate, followed by a silky, velvety finish.

2019 edition @ Franklin Tap, Chicago (Nov 2023). Dark brown with faint red highlights with a very small frothy tan head that disappears fast, woodsy aroma, low carbonation, sweetish woodsy coffee-rum taste, thin body, long woodsy coffee-rum finish. Smooth and drinkable despite the high ABV.

BBD 27AUG24. Full body, med-thin carbonation. Shitloads of chocolate, milky, moderate caramel, molasses, moderate candyish sugar. Med-high cherry, but for some reason it feels artificial to me, what with all the moderate almond inside as well. Maybe it is because of incorrect work with the cherry pits. Who knows. But overall it is quite good, even if not easy drinking - just give me a 1-2dcl of this one, thank you very much.

Bottle drunk 8/3/23. Dark. Tan head instantly to edge. Some cherry, some prune, some vanilla, some oxidation. Nothing really jumps out at you. Not a ton of sugar, not a ton of bourbon. Not boozey though and not full of the weird adjuncts. In the mouth it's sweet, soft, silky, moderately syrupy. Cherries have mostly passed but some flavor from pit and skin remain. I do get the granola quite heavily, I think, which I'm pretty ambivalent about. Not sure why we need that here? Bourbon character is low, though not non-existent, with some light alcohol sharpness throughout. On the sweeter side, of course, but not annoyingly-so. Has the lovely BCBS texture but pretty low on my list of variants, overall.

Medium to full bodied with active, massaging carbonation. Lightly warming finish, nicely integrated cherry fruit and chocolate, roast, dark malts.
