Belgian-Style India Pale Ale

Named after the Belgian village near Bastogne, this beer pays tribute to the courage of those who fought in the Battle of the Bulge. Foy is a cloudy golden color, with flavors and aroma balanced by late hop additions and spicy phenols created by our prominent yeast strain. Notes of citrus and grass with a dry finish.

On tap at The Blackback Pub, Waterbury, VT.
This was poured into a tulip glass.
The appearance was a nice looking hazy golden yellow to orange color with a bar pour’s kind of slim white head that dissipated immediately. No lacing.
The smell takes in some sweet orange pulp. Adding in some light sweet lemon, subtle Belgian spices and sweet Belgian sugars. Light bready tones slide in slightly.
The taste was mainly sweet through the previously mentioned flavors, adds in the subtle Belgian aspects nicely. Light citrus aftertaste, sly wet finish.
On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium on the body with a fairly decent sessionability about it. Carbonation runs fairly light allowing the breadiness gently poking the bitterness units to combine and hit my tongue nicely - smooth, yeah somewhat.
Overall, not sure why it’s labeled as an IPA on here but after tasting, smelling and feeling it. It seems it’s more of a Belgian IPA, still very nice and I would have it again.

Sample from the Granite State Brewers Festival 7/25/15 Rich light bready malt with light phenols and plenty of citrus and pine hoppiness to counter.

Looks like nectarine juice with a small white head. Nose is like fresh clementine with fresh squeezed OJ and a very light Saaz or Hallertau nose. It’s akin to Ommegang BPA but with a lot more juice, way more yeast profile and just juicy as all giddup. This would be very intersting with a Brett Claausennii refermentation. IBUs are well balanced with malts. Refreshing beer.
