Tall-Boy can into a wine glass at 60F. 2 finger coffee colored head. Pitch black pour. Nose is coffee beans and roasted espresso. hint of chocolate and roasted barley. some tobacco. Taste is chocolate for miles. It’s a lot of chocolate. Sort of smoked taste which bleeds over into licorice. It’s a decent beer but I don’t get what’s "Belgian" about this beer. I’d call this more of a smoked imperial porter than a stout.

Sampled from the tap a the 15th annual MBGSF. Pours black with a dark brown head that dissipates slowly to the edges. Aroma has notes of Belgian yeast with some dark grain, roasted malts and a hint of chocolate. Flavor is smooth with creamy chocolate with some roasted malts and a bit of Belgian yeast.

Draft at the brewpub. Deep opaque chocolate-brown body, thin tight beige to light brown head. Roasty, inky nose with some prune and toffee. Body of chocolate liqueur, lots of inky roast and licorice, ashy with some deeper plum or cherry notes and cherry pit, finishing with ashy sweetness. Very nice.
