Bottled. A very watery version of an alt with light hops and light flavoring.

"Picked this up in the Shiner ""Family Reunion"" pack of 6 varieties for $9 at Fairfield Liquors in Newark DE. Poured into a water glass. A - Half-Finger head, clear, leather colored with hints of amber. S - Vanilla, leather, walnut cream but sort of weak. T - Bitter, blonde, flat, toffee and oak in there as well M - Light, high bubbles and pretty lingering taste O - It’s a disappointing beer. Sort of relaxed and can be gulped. I’m not too impressed. Very forgettable."

Harris Teeter, DC variety sixer ($7): Pouts a copper color with a pretty nice head that keeps an inch for a while. Aroma is of caramel, slightly roasted malts, and a little bit of cheapness. Tastes kind of similar to a whole lot of amber ales on the market (which is essentially what an altbier is). Kind of light for an alt though. The low alcohol serves as a confirmation of that indeed. A little sweet. Very sessionable though and ultimately not a bad effort from Shiner. The fact that Shiner makes and mass markets these kinds of beers is a good thing for sure. Let’s you know what macros could be.

12 oz bottle. Poured a copper color with a medium sized head. Aroma was malty, touch of sweet notes, grass. Flavor was malts, toffee notes. Well carbonated, average, but enjoyable. Reminds me a bit of their bock.

12 ounce bottle from Harris Teeter Barracks Road Charlottesville, VA opened 5/1/11. Pours a clear copper color with a medium fizzy tan head. Good head retention and lacing. Aroma of caramel, grainy notes and a bit of raisin. The taste is toasted malts, grain, caramel and a bit of raisin in the finish. Medium bodied. Decent beer.

From a 12oz bottle from Pick’s Liquors poured into a Shaker. Light orange or amber color with lots of frothy head leaving good lacing. Aroma is...nothing. I can’t smell anything at all. Maybe a slight smell of hops. I taste a slight bitter...and not much else. Light bodied and thin textured, average carbonation and a abrupt finish. Overall, this beer is pretty crappy. It tastes like a thick Bud Light. The only saving factor is that it is really really cheap and would be a good intro to crafts for a non-craft drinker.

Bottle as shown. Pours a clear amber with a small creamy beige head that lasts awhile with spotty lacing. The aroma is a doughy malt and yeast with caramel. Thin mouthfeel with a bready malt and cereal with caramel and a light roast finish. Easy to drink, a decent alt from Shiner.
