A full-bodied beer which gets its distinctive flavor, and reddish-brown color from a special blend of four different grains and three hop varieties. It is generously hopped to balance the heavy, malty character.

From notes:
On tap at the brewpub it is a dark golden color with a slight head. It has the flavor of malt and the taste is bitter with some sweet nuttiness

Reviewed from notes.
This was poured into a pint glass at the brewpub.
The appearance was a decent looking reddish to brown color with a nice half fingered white foamy head that dissipated within less than a minute leaving some slight stringy lacing.
The smell had a light nutty to caramel to apple notes.
The taste took those flavors and combined them nicely.
On the palate, this one sat fairly light and came across fairly sessionable as the carbonation was there but mainly subdued.
Overall, decent ESB nothing wrong but nothing over the top, worthy of having again, sure will if I’m back in Gaylord, MI (who knows when that’ll be).

Draft at brewpub. Not great, but not bad. I could drink more of this.

tap at the Gaylord location - The brewpub claims the abv is 10.7%. I think not. That would be very odd for an ESB and quite obvious. Pours lightly hazy amber with an off-white head that laces well. It has a very mild aroma of rather indistinct malt. The flavor is sweet up front leading into some good bitterness. There’s a touch of citrus and a lingering bitter finish. Good.

Draught at the brewpub
Amber color. Light aroma. The flavor is basically caramel, with a medium-high bitterness. Correctly brewed.

Sample at the Gaylord location: Dark amber/red color with a compact light beige head. There is a top ring of lacing with spots beneath. Strong earthy malt aroma. Medium-bodied with a rich malt character, along with some citrus and a touch of alcohol. The finish is dry and hoppy. Above average ESB in my opinion.

Gaylord location, from a fresh growler. Deep orange-red body, medium off-white head. Nice earthy, peppery, perfumey hops aroma, bready. Earthy, biscuity, toasty body with emphasis on the floral, perfumey hops. Rather thin-bodied and light-flavored. Decent.

Sampled draught at Big Buck, Grapevine, Texas.
Chestnut brown. Big flowery hoppiness backed by a reasonable maltiness. Clean bitter finish. Good, but lacks complexity.
