Bottle from Craft Brewed. Pours a deep brown with a finger of beige foam that lingers, then dissipates. Roasted malt, coffee and toasted vanilla bean on the nose. Smooth and creamy with lower than usual acridity on the palate. The vanilla is tasteful and smooths out the edges on this one. Lingering chocolate malt, vanilla and coffee notes

Restrained, subtle, and delicious. Chocolate, coffee, anise, and roast, layered with hints of dark fruit, caramel, and an unexpectedly light hit of vanilla. Dry--a nice change considering the cloy, indulgent stouts I've come across lately--with a lingering roasted fade. Really starts to open up as it warms, but remains dignified and tidy. Beauty in nuance and craftsmanship.

Draft at The Ginger Man, NYC. Pours dark brown with a beige head. Aroma of dark chocolate, roasted malt, coffee, subtle vanilla. Taste follows. Probably the best stout I've tried to this point.
