Aroma is coca, and chocolate shavings. Taste has a nice semi-sweet chocolate base but not getting much vanilla. Medium body

Opaque dark brown beer, good pale tan head. Palate is airy and dry. Dry dark malt, no roast or bitterness. Dry dark chocolate. Light bitterish coffee. Whisper of smoke. Dry finish. Standard vanilla porter, lacking the normal Maine fairy dust.

0,5l bottle. The "German stadart-type" - interesting that they use it in Maine ;)
The beer is very dark with a nice beige head. The nose is intense and malty-deep. The beer starts viscous, very roasted with hints of Espresso and dark chocolate. The mainpart is slightly sweet but still dry, lots of roasted aroma. But for the deepness and intensity highly drinkable. The aftertaste is great roasted, especially in the end where there come roasted or even burned bread crumb together with slightly sweet espresso-beans or very dark chocolate together with a moderate and well-balamced bitterness. This very great taste stays long on the tongue - but where is the vanilla. I couldn’t taste it even when I think about it.
Nevertheless an absolutely great brewed stout! --> 14/13/15/15

Bottle. Pours opaque black with a medium brown head that dissipates quickly with nice lacing nevertheless. Aroma is roasty, dark chocolate, vanilla. Flavor is the same, medium sweet with coffee notes as well, fairly prominent vanilla. Light bitter. Medium body and yep, a nice silly mouthfeel. Pretty darn nice stout.

500 ml bottle into tulip glass, bottled on 1/29/2019. Pours opaque dark brown/black color with a 2 finger dense and rocky khaki head with fantastic retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lasts. Thick foamy lacing clings on the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation. Fantastic appearance. Aromas of big milk/dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, caramel, brown sugar, vanilla, cream, roasted nuts, toasted biscuit, and dark/brown bread/crust; with light notes of molasses, dark fruit, smoke, char, pine, herbal, grass, pepper, and yeast/roast/toasted earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of dark/roast/bready malts, vanilla, and light-moderate earthy hop notes; with great strength. Taste of big milk/dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, caramel, brown sugar, vanilla, cream, roasted nuts, toasted biscuit, and dark/brown bread/crust; with light notes of molasses, dark fruit, smoke, char, pine, herbal, grass, pepper, and yeast/roast/toasted earthiness. Light-moderate pine, herbal, grassy, peppery hops; and roast/char bitterness on the finish. Lingering notes of milk/dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, caramel, brown sugar, vanilla, cream, roasted nuts, toasted biscuit, dark/brown bread/crust, light smoke/char, pine, herbal, grass, pepper, and yeast/roast/toasted earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Great complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/roast/bready malts, vanilla, and light-moderate earthy hop flavors; with a great roast/hop bitter/sweet balance; and no cloying, acrid, astringent flavors after the finish. Lightly increasing dryness from lingering hop/char bitterness. Medium carbonation and medium-plus body; with a very smooth, creamy/silky/bready, and fairly sticky/chalky mouthfeel that is great. Minimal warming alcohol for 6.5%. Overall this is an excellent flavored American stout. All around great complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/roast/bready malts, vanilla, and light-moderate earthy hop flavors; very smooth and easy to drink with the mellowly bitter/charred/drying finish; great soft feel. Great balance between rich malts and vanilla flavors; with balancing earthy hops. Light residual sweetness with lingering dryness. A very enjoyable offering, and spot on style example.

21/XII/13 - 1Pt. 6Fl. Oz. @ Struise Schooltje (Oostvleteren) - bottled: V/28/13 (2013-1160) Thanks to Nate for the bottle!
Black beer, huge creamy irregular beige to brown head, pretty stable, little adhesive. Aroma: lots of vanilla, caramel, mocha, some chocolate, little burnt, bit sugary. MF: soft carbon, medium to full body. Taste: little sour, lots of vanilla, coffee, dark burnt caramel, not sweet at all, slightly sour. Aftertaste: coffee, cocoa powder, chocolate, hint of caramel, little sour, mocha and more coffee. Very decent beer, especially for the low alcohol. Maybe a tad too much of vanilla.

$7.29 Bottle, Wine Warehouse, CHO. Pours dark brown with a large frothy head. Good lacing. Nice looking beer! Smells bittersweet: vanilla on top of chocolate and nuts. Tastes nutty... vanilla and chocolate.

Bottle from BottleSelect.com. Pours dark brown with a transient tan head. Aroma of vanilla and perhaps chocolate. Med body. Flavor is earthy vanilla - really suggesting bourbon! Then chocolate. Hint of coffee.
