When the Swedish state beer shop asked for a well hopped, whole malt lager for the Spring season, naturally we thought: "we can do that!!"
Our spring beer is called VALBORG which is also the name of the May festival in Sweden.
Up here in Jämtland the days are getting longer and lighter and we`re longing for the snow to melt so we can put away our snow scooters and get out the mopeds!

St Valborg was a german abbess who was canonised in 779. The roots of the festival, however, go back to pagan times. Spring was a time for fertility rituals and bonfires to scare away evil spirits.

As a homage to St. valborg we have used only German hops from the famous Hallertau region.
The malt is Pilsner malt with a touch of caramel malt.
The result is a sparkling light lager that should suit all tastes.

To protect your fertility we recomend sensible drinking of Jämtlands Valborg.

Bottled. Golden colour, mediumsized foamy head. Honey and hops in aroma along with some sweetish malts. Smooth honeyish malty flavour with nice hoppy finish. Very wellbalanced.

A hazy orange beer with a disappearing white head. The aroma is sweet hoppy, while the flavor is sweet and slightly floral combined with the hoppyness and with a dry hoppy end.

Bottled (BB 08/2005)
Golden color, mostly vanishing white head. Strong toffee-diacetyl, grassy nose. Toffeish-sweetish with the gently (Hallertau) hops. Bitterish oily aftertaste. Certain East European touch in this. Dissapointment from a fine brewery.

Bottled. Clear golden, average head. Rich aroma of citric hops with buttery malt beneath. Fruity and medium bodied with rich malt sweetness and dense, soft mouthfeel, typical Jämtland style excellent malt character! On top of that there’s balanced grassy, citric hops, leading to pleasantly bitter finish.
Not spectacular in any way, but a thoroughly well made and inspired lager. Would be a lovely beer to drink a sunny spring day when the snow starts to melt, too bad it’s -6C and really windy right now...
