A new Vertical Epic will be released every year, with the goal being to collect them all and have a Vertical Epic tasting once the final Epic is released on 12/12/12. Each new Stone Vertical Epic Ale will be release one YEAR, one MONTH and one DAY apart.

Vertical Epic 02/02/02 was not brewed "to style". Instead, we tried to create something new. It’s triple-ish in nature, with wit character, coriander and orange peel, and has way more hops than either a Belgian triple or a Wit would. Belgian yeast was used. Belgian Strong Ale is the closest category that fits -- Greg Koch, Stone Brewing CEO.

What about Stone Vertical Epic Ale 01.01.01? Well, there are two reasons for its non-existence: (1) We didn't want to participate in the whole overhyped media nonsense of "Millennium this" and "Millennium that," and (2) we didn't think of the Stone Vertical Epic Ale idea until the fall of 2001 (which was already too late for a 01.01.01 version.) Sure, we could wait until the year 3001 to start this series, but we were afraid that with all that time between now and the next millennium, we might forget. Besides, that millennium will probably be overhyped as much as the last one.

Bottle shared with Erzengel! A clear golden beer with a mid-sized most good lasting off-white head. Aroma of strong pale malt, yellwo fruits, belgian yeast. Taste of strong grainy malt, belgian yeast, yellow fruits, slightly boozy.

bottle - Hazy yellow-orange pour. It smells of yeast, spices, banana, citrus. Flavor is on the sweet side with pleasant fruity notes, coriander, malt, wheat, Belgian yeast, and some welcome bitterness on the back end. Quite nice.

Klares, sattes Gold, hoher cremiger Schaum. In der Nase Orange und Koriander, wie ein Wit. Im Trunk erfrischend, deutlich Orange, dann alkoholischer werdend. Hinten würzig, feiner Abgang. Sehr lecker.

Frothy white head stayed on an effervescent, translucent, copper coloured body. Aroma of peach, nectarine, haribos & flora. Medium bodied, soft & airy on the palate - clean & very dry dry on the back. This beer is so dry with tastes of bitter orange, lemon, pith & lots of spices

15/VIII/17 - 1Pt. 6Fl. Oz. bottle @ Help-Me-Get-to-10K-In-Time-Tasting 2 (home) - BB: VII/12/27 (probably just been bottled last month, as this is the re-release version) (2017-1223) Thanks to Tinus for sharing the bottle!

Clear orange beer, creamy yellowish head, very stable, bit adhesive, leaving a nice lacing in the glass. Aroma: lots and lots of ripe banana, sweet, little spicy. MF: ok carbon, medium body. Taste: bit sweet, malty, lots of ripe banana, pretty bitter, soft spiciness, some coriander. Aftertaste: more ripe banana, some marzipan, yeast, pretty metallic bitterness, hint of citrus.

Hazy blond color. Smell of cabbage, vegetables. Dry mouthfeel, the alcohol is too evident, the esters are unbearable, there is some chewing gum, banana, pepper, soap, cabbage.

Bottle - Bready and fruity notes. Clear gold with a decent white head. Fruity and sweet bready notes. Not bad, but definitely not good.
